Questions
Something not covered here? Ask me directly →
- What is the Cruisin4Parts MCP server?
- An MCP (Model Context Protocol) server: the way an assistant like Claude or ChatGPT uses Cruisin4Parts directly. Instead of searching part numbers and comparing suppliers in a browser yourself, you ask the assistant, and it reads the same catalog and prices the website uses.
- Does the connector cost extra?
- No. It comes with your Cruisin4Parts account, with no separate plan. Catalog lookups and projects are free on any account. A price comparison spends one search from the same monthly allowance as the website, or two with a ZIP for shipping, and Premium has no meter. Re-checking a whole project at once and setting a price alert need Premium, as they do on the website. Reading and deleting the alerts you already have does not.
- Which assistants can use it?
- Claude on claude.ai, Claude Code, and ChatGPT on the web in developer mode. Any MCP client that speaks streamable HTTP and OAuth should work; those three are the ones that have been set up and tested end to end.
- Do I need an API key?
- No. You paste one URL, a Cruisin4Parts sign-in opens, you approve it, and you are set up. There is no key to generate, copy or rotate.
- Can it buy parts or spend money?
- No. The connector has no checkout, no cart and no payment method. Every price comes back with the supplier's own URL and you place the order yourself. The only thing it spends is a search from your monthly allowance, and only when it checks prices.
Paste the URL. Ask for a part number.
